Privacy Policy
1. Information we collect
- Card data you create: card names, issuer, barcode values and formats, notes, favorites, expiration dates, reminder times, and category assignments.
- Attachments you add: documents or images selected via the document picker, including file name, type, size, and a local file URI.
- Location details you add (optional): location name, address, place ID, latitude/longitude, and a generated map link.
- Security settings: a hashed PIN, biometric preference, and auto-lock timeout saved in secure storage.
- Usage and diagnostics (optional): crash reports and diagnostic events if telemetry is enabled in production builds.
- Subscription status: purchase entitlements returned by the app store when checking premium access.
2. How we use information
- Provide the core card wallet features, including barcode display and reminders.
- Store attachments and card metadata on your device for offline access.
- Enable optional features such as barcode scanning, location search, and notifications.
- Improve stability through error diagnostics when telemetry is enabled.
- Validate subscription entitlements for premium features.
3. Where data is stored
- On-device database: card data, categories, and settings are stored locally using SQLite.
- On-device secure storage: PIN hashes and biometric preferences are stored using secure storage.
- On-device files: attachment files are stored locally on your device’s file system.
4. Permissions
- Camera: used only to scan barcodes when you open the scanner.
- Notifications: used to schedule and show card reminders when enabled.
- Biometrics: used to unlock the app if you enable biometric access.
5. Third-party services
- Microsoft Azure Maps: used for optional location search when you enable premium location search.
- Apple Maps / Google Maps: external map apps may open when you tap a map link.
- Microsoft Application Insights: optional telemetry for diagnostics in production builds.
- App stores (Apple / Google): handle in-app purchase processing and return entitlement status.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Data is shared only with the services listed above to provide optional functionality (maps, telemetry, and in-app purchases).
7. Data retention
Your card data and attachments remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Telemetry data, if enabled, is retained by the telemetry provider according to their policies.
8. Children’s privacy
Polar Documents is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact the developer to request deletion.
9. Your choices
- Use the app without enabling location search, notifications, or telemetry.
- Manage or delete cards and attachments at any time.
- Disable biometrics or remove your PIN in settings.
